July 4, 2012: After a 6am flight from B'ham to Miami, a connection in Miami to Antigua, and then a little puddle jumper flight to Montserrat...WE'RE HERE! I got to sit in the co-pilot's seat on our flight into Montserrat!! It was so cool! The plane was the smallest thing I've ever seen (pilot/co-pilot and then 3 rows with 2 seats each....so only 6 seats besides the pilot/co-pilot seats)! The island (from what we've seen so far) is very laid back. The money is Eastern Caribbean (the island is British owned, so we are using local money now). They drive on the other side of the road (and the driver's side of the car is the opposite side than what we are used to in the U.S.) b/c it is British owned! It is actually cooler here than it is in Hoover. The temps have been in the mid to upper 80s. It is very muggy, though, and there is no air conditioning in most places on the island. Our villa has air conditioning in the bedrooms only. The breezes are fantastic, though! There are many goats, chickens, and roosters that just roam the island. There are also HUGE frogs that come out at night!

Montserrat from the tiny airplane!

Sweet little baby goat (mother and sibling are nearby). Goats are everywhere on the island (some have owners...some just roam the island freely).

Roosters and chickens are hard to get pictures of. Here is one that was running fast to get away from me! They also just roam the island!
